As
generative AI becomes embedded in academic workflows, faculty are increasingly
experimenting with its use in peer review and often without clear or consistent
guidance. Publisher policies vary widely, raising an important question for
higher education: what role, if any, should AI play in peer review? Drawing on
experience reviewing qualitative research, this session examines ethical,
practical, and scholarly considerations, including confidentiality, trust, and
reviewer accountability. Participants will explore responsible uses, common
pitfalls, and leave with guiding questions to support transparent, ethical, and
effective AI-assisted peer review practices.
