Title: Designing Ethical Workflows for Writing with GenAI
Date: October 16, 2024
Presenter: Eric Mason, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Department of Communication, Media, and the Arts and Faculty Coordinator, NSU Write from the Start, Writing and Communication Center
Session Description:
Many professionals have embraced Generative AI (GenAI) as part of their work, and employers increasingly expect new hires to have AI literacies. But how can educators prepare students for these workplaces while still ensuring that learning objectives are being met? Can writing processes incorporate GenAI ethically? This workshop will focus on exploring “human centered” workflows for writing with GenAI that maintain ethical standards while supporting student learning and literacy.
Objectives:
Identify elements of GenAI literacy students will need
Identify risks to learning and communication associated with GenAI
Develop an assignment-based workflow for ethical writing with GenAI
